How refreshing to read a book that has a Korean love interest and the conflict has nothing to do with his heritage. Korean traditions and language are lovingly folded into the story and the reader is exposed to them like chocolate morsels in a cookie.
Also refreshing, a lead female who reflects authentic quirks and angst. I have never met a woman who is so unapologetically Hazel, but try not to love her . . . or see yourself in her. Josh is also a literary treasure that paves the way to show a multi-dimensional male character.
I wiped away tears upon ending the story in order to search for other books written by author, Christina Lauren. She gives me hope that it is the new trend to write about real women and equally as important, real men.
