Rehoboth Beach, DE
What a beautiful experience. I requested to go here on my birthday because it is such a fantastic dining experience overall. I made a reservation, which I recommend, no matter the season. You do have to walk through a tiny mall and up some stairs. The restroom is also located on a lower level from the restaurant. They have an Asian flair going on, with trees and ponds and a warm, inviting decor.
We started with the Classic Cultured Martini, which was gin or vodka skewered with wasabi stuffed olives and ginger. We also had a Sake Sangria, the Pomtini, and the house cabernet. All were perfectly poured.
For an appetizer we had the Saka Mushi, the clams in a white garlic sauce. The bread was perfectly warm for dipping. They give you a spoon because they know you want to drink the sauce! We also started with the Karaage which was fried chicken pieces with some good dipping sauce. I could have done without that but it tasted good.
For the entree, I got the Thai Yellow Curry Shrimp for the second time. You know it’s good when you go to a restaurant particularly for that item. It did not disappoint. Hot curry broth with shrimp and vegetables like red bell pepper, and mango chutney with jasmine rice. Just to die for. My fiancé ordered sushi and I do not know which ones, but it was some of the best I have ever tasted. One roll had banana on top and it was great. Our friends got tempura shrimp and chicken bowls.
For dessert, since I had told our server it was my birthday, he brought me a heavenly dessert with a candle. It was warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream but it was not generic. The guys also ordered some kind of bourbon milkshake from the specials menu, and a banana tempura dessert, which is something I try to get at every Asian restaurant I visit, and this one was pretty good. For the finishing touch, we got Van Goh Espresso shots and they came served in little chocolate cups! What a surprise treat! Our server was fantastic. His timing on everything was perfect, so we never felt rushed with our courses or left wondering where our food was. He was professional and experienced. I think I have had him there before and his name is Ovi. Very pleased with the service. Overall, 5 stars for sure.
